Favorite daughter of Zeus, king of the gods, she is the only other deity allowed to wield his thunderbolt, and uses both her power and her good sense to keep other less manageable gods in line.

Athene displays various of the traits associated with both the [[Wise Power]] and the [[Michael Power]] or [[One's Champion, the | the One's Champion]], and is therefore often assumed by wizards to have been an avatar of one (or both) of them. The One's Champion in particular states that this is one of the names he (or she) has occasionally been known by among mortals. ([[HW]] ''et seq''.)
