One of a number of alien wizards whom Nita meets while working on KERNEL-detection routines in the ASCHETIC "practice" universes. Dazel is a SULAMID, a member of a race who are thought to almost all be wizards, due to "something about the way their brains are divided."

Dazel is described as looking like a bundle of bright purple tentacles about six feet high: the tentacles change color more or less constantly, and the bundle is topped off with a sheaf of pink-stalked and tentacly eyes with triangular pupils and a purplish, "bloodshot" look. Dazel speaks rather slowly, and Nita finds something rather creepy about it, especially when it spends long moments looking at her and not saying much of anything. When he speaks, it's sometimes to say things that don't seem to make much sense, even in the [[Speech, the | Speech]]: about this, PRALAYA comments that even with the Speech, one has to be speaking with "the intent to be understood". When Kit meets him somewhat later, he also finds Dazel's utterances rather cryptic, but the tone of them (and their content in light of later events) could possibly be taken to suggest that Dazel is some kind of [[Oracular sentients | oracular]].
