 Station Shinnecock of the [http://www.uscg.mil/d1/Units/grumor/index.htm US Coast Guard (Group Moriches)] is located 1.3 miles north of the Inlet, on the east side of Ponquogue Point. Shinnecock Light (40&deg;50.5' N, 72&deg;28.8' W) stands on the west side of the inlet, and the mournful four-times-a-minute hoot of the light's fog signal is heard often during the events of [[DW]].
 During their conversation with [[S'reee]] about the [[Twelve, Song of the | Song of the Twelve]], [[Nita]] and [[Kit]] spend a good while sitting on the US Naval Oceanographic platform
