A series of young adult novels which began publication in the early 1980's. The novels (in order of publication, with first-edition publication dates) are:
- So You Want to Be a Wizard (1983)
- Deep Wizardry (1985)
- High Wizardry (1990)
- A Wizard Abroad (1993)
- The Wizard's Dilemma (2001)
- A Wizard Alone (2002)
- Wizard's Holiday (2003)
- Wizards at War (2005)
The series is open-ended, with no scheduled end point, and DD has indicated that she will continue writing Young Wizards books for the foreseeable future. The title of the next book is known (A Wizard of Mars), and at least three more novels are in the early planning stages, but no titles are yet available for these.
There are also two books for adult readers in the same universe:
