(Also known as α Cen) At approximately four lightyears' distance, the star nearest to Earth's Sun. While heading out of the Solar System, Dairine pauses near the planet Uranus and notes that from there she can hear the space probe Voyager 2 heading off past the radiopause, and in this star's general direction.
