Dewey Decimal System

The Dewey decimal number of the Wizard's Manual is normally 793.4. This places it in the general category of "recreational and performing arts", and leaves the book in company with such neighbors as numerous books on dance, at 792.3, and "Games (And How to Play Them)", also at 793.4.

In the Library of Congress system, the book form of the Manual normally shelves itself under the subclass NX (arts in general) or AY (almanacs and directories). However, since it goes where it needs to go to be found by the potential wizard it's meant for, the Manual has occasionally been found in such disparate subclasses as BD (speculative philosophy) and C (auxiliary sciences of history), once or twice under BH (aesthetics), and once, a little bizarrely, under TT (handicrafts).
