The "hunting cat" poised to leap

Among the many statues which Kit's use of the Mason's Word gives the semblance of life in SYWTBAW, one is a "hunting cat". This is most likely the celebrated bronze sculpture "Still Hunt", a work of the famous American sculptor Edward Kemeys.

The sculpture dates back to 1883 and represents a mountain lion {Felis concolor). It's known for being one of the most realistically placed sculptures in the Park: joggers running past it in the company of other runners who haven't seen it before like to stop and point at it as if horrified by the "wild animal" about to jump on them.

"Still Hunt" is located about mid-Park at 76th Street, on the west side of East Drive. (SYWTBAW)
