The eastern extremity of Long Island's South Fork, and the easternmost point in New York State. The Point features a famous lighthouse (now also a museum) commissioned by President George Washington in 1792 and completed in 1796. It is also home to the oldest cattle ranch in the United States.

The turbulent waters off the Point are a preferred hunting ground of the Master-Shark. (DW)
