In the YW books this area is of interest primarily because of the statue of Prometheus -- which takes part in the events of SYWTBAW -- and because of the Rockefeller Center worldgate, a small "off peak" gate which is an uptown offshoot of the Penn worldgate complex.
In SYWTBAW, Tom Swale mentions that Carl runs this worldgate. (He most likely means that Carl acts in a supervisory capacity for its handling by the Penn worldgating team.) The worldgate is normally located just off the tunnel complex below the Center. (SYWTBAW et al.)
