Incorporated village on the South Shore of Long Island in the state of New York: the second largest village in the state, with a population of approximately 45,000. It serves as one of a number of South Shore bedroom communities for those working in New York City, and elsewhere in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Freeport is also the closest large town to the part of Hempstead where Nita and Kit live.
