The eastern extremity of Long Island's South Fork, and the easternmost point in New York State. The Point features a famous lighthouse (now also a museum) commissioned by President George Washington in 1792 and completed in 1796.
The turbulent waters off the Point are a preferred hunting ground of the Master-Shark. {DW)
