An epithet for (possibly) the most senior of the Powers that Be, and almost certainly the most powerful: the demiurgic Power which seems to act the most frequently on the One's behalf in the physical worlds. (Hence the epithet: in medieval usage, a king's "champion" was the knight who represented both king and kingdom on the field in judicial combat, and often led his forces into battle).
The Champion is routinely closely identified with the Michael Power, but they may nonetheless not be absolutely identical, as personality and identity in the upper / more central reaches of created being are routinely not much like those in the more merely physical, outer reaches.
