The deer at Osborn Gate in Central Park
In SYWTBAW, during the "attack of the statues" sequence initiated by Kit's invocation of the Mason's Word, mention is made of some "less warlike" creatures joining in the attack -- specifically, of some deer. These are almost certainly the deer from the northernmost pedestal of the two flanking the gateway to the Osborn Memorial Playground at Fifth Avenue and 85th Street.
Like their companions on the northern pedestal, the Bears, these statues are bronzes created by the artist and sculptor Paul Manship in 1955. The pedestals were designed around the same time by architect Aymar Embury II. (SYWTBAW)
