Advisory

The lowest level of supervisory wizard. Normally an Advisory supervises a catchment area containing not more than a few hundred wizards, though these numbers are subject to change depending on the population density of a given area and the talents (and free time) of the Advisory wizard involved. As the title implies, they act as general advisors and often mentors and confidant(e)s to wizards working in their area, assisting them with the logistics and planning of personal spelling and advising on strategies for handling active assigment. They also serve as organizers for group wizardries when circumstances require, mediate when necessary between wizards in their catchment area and the Powers that Be, and coordinate with other area Advisories and the higher wizardly supervisory structure planet-wide in constructing strategies for long-term wizardly interventions.

Advisories tend to be promoted temporarily to Senior status by the Powers as required by local circumstance; they then fall back to Advisory status without any implication of demotion.

Since the beginning of the Young Wizards series, the wizards Tom Swale and Carl Romeo have acted as Advisories for the area of Long Island where Kit and Nita live, and have occasionally been bumped up to Senior status during this period.
