An Alaalid compound word, derived from ese, "light" and 'hmel, "daughter". The suffix "-li" is an Alaalid shorthand intensifier which means that the word or word fragment before it is meant to be repeated (but the user can't be bothered to take the extra time). Hence, "Daughter of the Daughter of Light."
The Lone Power doesn't think much of this sweet little nickname which the people of Alaalu have hung on It, and says as much forcefully to Kit and Nita when the subject comes up. (WH)
