A weapon first forged on Earth in the depths of time by the Powers that Be, and reforged in recent times. (AWAB) The Spear was originally associated with the Michael Power or Winged Defender, but later turned to other uses. (WAW) In Irish myth it was associated with the ancient Spear called Luin, also called the Spear of Lugh.

There are several tales of the original Forging of the Spear, with some overlap of details: and (as is usual when mythology involves the Powers that Be) they are probably all more or less true. In AWAB, Doris Smyth tells Nita that the Spear was one of the Four Great Treasures of the ancient world...
