Tiana Beach

A tiny beachfront community (actually, "hamlet" would probably be a better word) in East Quogue near Southampton, on the south shore of Long Island. Nita's father arranges to rent a beachfront cottage in Tiana Beach for the summer holidays, one year, and the Callahans take Kit along on the vacation, with results none of them quite expect.

Tiana Beach has suffered badly from erosion in recent years, though the area's wizards (as well as the local authorities) have been replacing the eroded sand as quickly as they can. Unfortunately, this is the kind of battle that the Sea usually wins, even when wizardry is involved. (DW)
