One of the Checker cabs in the dark Manhattan.
These are constructs created by the Lone Power, and display Its pet universe's hatred for genuine life as well as a marked taste for blood. A pack of vampire cabs, with the King cab that attacked Kit as their leader, pursue Kit and Nita on Fifth Avenue and trap them against a building there, with near-fatal consequences. (SYWTBAW)
